Preliminary Clinical Observations of the Energy Enhancement System™: A Pilot Study of Subjective Patient Experiences
This pilot study examined subjective physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual effects of a single two-hour exposure to the Energy Enhancement System™. Ninety participants completed self-report surveys before, immediately after, and 2–3 days post-session; 37 provided complete data. Results showed frequent reports of deep relaxation, altered awareness, emotional processing, and physical symptom changes. No significant blood pressure effects were observed, supporting further controlled research.

Abstract
This pilot study documents subjective physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual responses to a single two-hour exposure to the Energy Enhancement System™ (EES). Participants completed self-report questionnaires immediately before and 2–3 days following their session, as well as an immediate post-session evaluation. To date, 90 individuals have participated, with 37 returning complete survey data. Preliminary findings indicate consistent reports of deep relaxation, altered states of awareness, emotional processing, and changes in physical symptoms. While no significant effects on blood pressure were observed, many participants described symptom relief, transient symptom aggravation, enhanced meditation, emotional release, and increased clarity or optimism. These findings support continued systematic investigation of the EES using controlled and quantitative research designs.
Introduction
Energy-based therapeutic technologies are increasingly explored within integrative and naturopathic medicine as adjunctive approaches to health and well-being. While anecdotal reports and case studies suggest that exposure to subtle energy environments may influence physical and psychological states, systematic clinical documentation remains limited.
The Energy Enhancement System™ (EES) is a technology designed to create a multi-frequency energetic environment through synchronized computer-generated visual and electromagnetic patterns. Patients and clinicians have reported a wide range of effects, including relaxation, emotional processing, and symptom change. The present pilot study was undertaken to document patient-reported experiences following a single two-hour exposure to the EES within a naturopathic clinical setting.
Purpose
The primary purpose of this pilot study was to document subjective patient experiences—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual—associated with a two-hour session in the Energy Enhancement System™.
Method
Study Design
This was a descriptive, observational pilot study using pre-session, post-session, and short-term follow-up self-report questionnaires.
Participants
Participants included existing patients of the Vancouver Naturopathic Clinic (VNC) as well as community volunteers recruited through advertisements or word-of-mouth referrals. Participation was voluntary, and no inclusion or exclusion criteria were applied based on health status.
To date, 90 individuals have completed a first two-hour EES session. Of these:
43 were existing clinic patients
47 were non-patients
Participant demographics:
Age range: 22–87 years
Mean age: 46 years
Median age: 46 years
Sex: 58 female, 32 male
Non-patients completed a medical history questionnaire and had baseline measurements of blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation (SpO₂) recorded prior to their session.
Procedure
Participants experienced a single two-hour session in the Energy Enhancement System™. The EES room was equipped with:
A massage chair
A zero-gravity recliner
Participants were free to choose either or both seating options. No music was played; however, participants could select ambient background sounds (e.g., ocean waves, rainfall).
Data collection included:
Questionnaire #1: Completed immediately before the session
Immediate Evaluation Form: Completed immediately after the session
Questionnaire #2: Completed 2–3 days after the session (identical to Questionnaire #1)
All questionnaires assessed self-perceived physical, mental, and emotional states.
Results
Response Rate
Of the 90 participants, 37 returned a complete set of questionnaires and were included in the preliminary analysis.
Immediate Subjective Experiences
Upon exiting the EES, the majority of participants reported:
Deep relaxation
Calmness
Altered or expanded awareness
A sense that the session duration felt shorter than two hours
Participants who slept during the session frequently reported waking feeling refreshed and restored.
Representative comments included:
“Lightness in the body; floating sensation.”
“A deep meditation but still lucid.”
“A hopeful sensation without a specific goal in mind.”
“One big blast that felt like joy.”
Some participants described transient sensations such as involuntary muscle movements or a mildly “spacey” feeling.
Subjective Physical Symptom Changes
Most participants reported some change in physical symptoms following the session. These changes generally fell into two categories:
Immediate symptom relief
Temporary symptom aggravation, possibly consistent with a healing crisis or detoxification response
Notable observations included:
Acute pain relief followed by delayed symptom return in some individuals
Short-term symptom worsening followed by improvement in others
Significant reduction in menstrual pain reported by one participant
Reports of fatigue, chills, dizziness, emotional sensitivity, and vivid dreams in some cases
One participant reported dramatic emotional processing alongside physical symptoms, including weight loss, emotional release, and peaceful integration of past trauma memories.
Blood Pressure Observations
Blood pressure was measured for all participants prior to their first session. For individuals with elevated baseline readings, post-session measurements were also taken.
While small changes in blood pressure were observed, no consistent or clinically significant effect of the EES on blood pressure was identified.
Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual Effects
Many participants reported changes consistent with enhanced cognitive and emotional functioning, including:
Increased optimism
Reduced anxiety
Heightened mental clarity
Enhanced creativity
Improved emotional regulation
Participants with meditation experience frequently noted that the EES facilitated a deeper meditative state more rapidly than usual.
Representative comments included:
“Creative ideas emerged from somewhere.”
“Less anxiety, more hopefulness.”
“Prayer felt deeper and unhurried.”
“I notice colours more—everything seems crystal clear.”
“I feel more connected to my family.”
Some participants reported vivid dreams following the session, suggesting continued psychological processing beyond the immediate exposure period.
Discussion
Preliminary findings from this pilot study suggest that exposure to the Energy Enhancement System™ is associated with consistent subjective experiences of relaxation, altered awareness, emotional processing, and symptom change. While responses varied among individuals, patterns of both immediate relief and transient symptom aggravation were observed, consistent with responses often reported during integrative or detoxification-oriented interventions.
The absence of a significant effect on blood pressure suggests that the EES may exert its primary influence through neurological, emotional, or perceptual pathways rather than acute cardiovascular modulation.
Participants’ reports of enhanced meditation, creativity, emotional release, and interpersonal connection point toward potential psycho-emotional and spiritual dimensions of the experience that warrant further study.
Limitations
Reliance on self-reported data
Incomplete questionnaire return rate
Absence of a control or comparison group
Single-session exposure only
Lack of standardized psychometric instruments
Recommendations for Future Research
Future investigations would benefit from:
Controlled study designs
Repeated EES exposures
Quantitative psychological and physiological outcome measures
Longitudinal follow-up
Stratification by health condition or symptom profile
Conclusion
This pilot study provides preliminary clinical documentation of subjective physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual experiences associated with the Energy Enhancement System™. While findings are descriptive and exploratory, the consistency of reported effects supports further systematic research into this emerging technology within integrative healthcare settings.
